A deep, saturated scarlet defines this watchful light, mirroring the intensity of a winter vigil. This glass candle perches upon its snow-dusted base, where the broad petals of a poinsettia ground the rising flame in botanical richness. The sight of molten wax frozen in descent captures a fleeting moment of peace found only in the deep cold. Owning such a deliberate object provides the quiet comfort of a story told in silence, held forever in a single, still breath.
It starts as a glass tube. Heated until it softens, then blown into shape: some forms into a mould, the most complex ones shaped free-hand on the pipe. One piece at a time, in a single workshop in Poland. What comes out is silvered from the inside, lacquered, and left to cure before anyone picks up a brush.
The painting is freehand. Brush by brush, layer over layer, each colour left to dry before the next goes down. No transfers, no printing, no stencils standing in for a steady hand.
No two are identical. A line sits a fraction differently, a highlight catches the light its own way. Small things, but they are the difference between an object that was manufactured and one that was made.
Ornaments are the only things we buy to unwrap again. Boxed up after the season, brought back out the next one, each one tied to the year it arrived. After a decade a collection stops being decoration and becomes a record of where the family has been.
Glass is what makes that possible. It does not warp or grow brittle with age. A piece boxed up this year will still be here in twenty, and usually ends up with someone who remembers where it came from.

One small thing: hold on to the box and the padding until your replacement is on its way. We sometimes need it for the carrier claim.
